Originally called Project Natal when it was previewed at E3 in 2009, Microsoft’s motion-based gaming package has finally gotten a price tag. It will cost $150 when it goes on sale this fall, just in time for the holiday season.
Nintendo unveiled its 3DS system recently at E3, and it promises to bring 3D gaming wherever you want to go. The 3DS system is a 3D-capable version of Nintendo’s popular DS portables and includes a 3D slider that adjusts the picture and allows you to see images in 3D. No goofy 3D glasses are needed for the system, which is good since you’re likely to be playing out in public.
There was a lot of hype leading up to this game before E3, and it definitely delivered based on a number of awards it won: Reason to Live – Gamesradar, Peoples Choice winner – Gamespot, Best of E3 – Game Chronicles. Everyone is more anxious than ever for this game to come out! The demo will be available around December 2010 (for people who currently own Splinter Cell: Conviction, or pre-order the game from GameStop) and the game will be out in March 2011.
Microsoft will be announcing a partnership with Hulu, that lovable video site that allows you to watch all your favorite shows and clips whenever you want over the Internet. Microsoft seems to think that Xbox users might enjoy watching Hulu content on an actual TV, rather than hunched over their notebooks.
Red Dead Redemption is a Grand Theft Auto – style open world game, with a few *minor* changes. Replace cars with horses, evil gangbangers with evil cowboys, pimp mansions with creaky wooden shacks, semi-automatics with pistols and shotguns, and pedestrians with random animals.
Last week at PAX East 2010 in Boston, I had the opportunity to play Crackdown 2, which is slated for release on July 6. Only the multiplayer version was available for the demo, but it was certainly a fun look at a highly anticipated game release in 2010 after the slew of fans it gained from its predecessor, Crackdown.
Now that we’ve finally seen Sony’s Move motion-based game controller a little more closely, we started thinking about getting ourselves ready for the debut. Before gamers are able to enjoy the new Move controller, they’ll need some other gear like the PlayStation Eye camera and, of course, a PlayStation 3 console.
Sony originally announced that it was working on a motion-based game controller last summer at E3. While the controller (with its big light ball) was a little less sexy and streamlined than Microsoft’s controller-less Project Natal, it received compliments for its smooth game play.
Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is incredible. It’s hard to believe that Naughty Dog was able to make a sequel more amazing than its first (Uncharted: Drake’s Fortune), but they did. The graphics are absolutely stunning and the voice-acting is superb, thanks in no small part to having real actors act out all the cut scenes using motion capture.
If you were like me and one of 2 million other people, you picked up the highly anticipated Mass Effect 2 game last week. Need more proof of its epicness? It’s the 2nd highest rated game on Xbox 360 ever (according to Metacritic), “Mass Effect” was in the top 10 trending topics on Twitter on launch day, and it was the most searched keyword on Google News.
